The Greene County wrestling team traveled to Webster City High School Saturday for the Class 2A District meet, with four Rams wrestlers punching their tickets to the state meet.
Kale Petersen, 132, and McKinley Robbins, 138, each placed first in their classes, sending them on to the state meet. Also moving on are Brent Dennhardt, 145, and Gavin Scheuermann, 160, who each took second in their classes.
Gavyn Winters just missed a state appearance, placing third at 113. The team came in fifth out of eight teams.
The Class 2A state tournament begins Wednesday at 1:30 pm. The quarterfinals and consolation round is Thursday at 1:30 pm with the semi-final round Friday, also at 1:30 pm. Finals are Saturday at 9 am and 5:15 pm. The event is held at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
Petersen, a senior, is a two-time state champion and is ranked No. 1 in his weight class. He is undefeated this season. This is his fourth trip to state, twice as a Ram and twice at West Fork (Sheffield).
Robbins, also a senior, was a state champion as a freshman and has placed second twice at state. His lone loss this season was due to a medical forfeit. He is also ranked No. 1.
Scheuermann, a junior, is a three-time state qualifier who is ranked fifth while Dennhardt, a sophomore, is making his first appearance. He is ranked ninth.

113 – Gavyn Winters won by fall over Jaymes Steven 1:35; lost by major decision to Dreylen Schweitzer 9-1; won by major decision over Taelynn Slawson 14-3; won by decision over John Artz 8-1; lost by no contest to Dreylen Schweitzer, third place.
120 – Jacob Harmeyer received a bye; lost by fall to Ryler Ziegmann 0:26; received a bye; lost by fall to Brody Strother 2:56.
126 – Crew Conner received a bye; lost by decision to Jacob Mahler 6-0; received a bye; lost by fall to Adison Scott 3:58.
132 – Kale Petersen received a bye; won by fall over Brayden Henely 3:13; won by fall over Charlie Showalter 0:29, first place.
138 – McKinley Robbins received a bye; won by fall over Tristan Mason 1:19; won by fall over Brady Beers 0:57, first place.
145 – Brent Dennhardt won by fall over Kyle Johnson 0:34; won by fall over Luke Estlund 3:56; lost by decision to Cooper Ludwig 5-3; won by no contest over Luke Eslund, second place.
152 – Jackson Turner lost by decision to Isac Vosburg 20-14; received a bye; lost by decision to Jordan Vankham 13-6.
160 – Gavin Scheuermann received a bye; won by major decision over Brady Jessen 12-2; lost by fall to Jireh Gallegos 3:30; won by decision over Ty Gargano 6-4, second place.
